THE "GREAT DEBATE" SCAM

When I attended the Right Pride mixer about a month ago, a pudgy little man in a tee-shirt emblazoned with a Joe Heck logo told me that there was going to be a debate for candidates, but that I was going to be excluded. He seemed to be attempting to get under my skin, but (1) I am not in the fourth grade and (2) I am a Republican, so I expect lots of dirty tricks and manipulation, especially when candidates are in bed with the national party (which Heck is).

So tonight there is a debate. It is sponsored by KDWN radio and is billed as, "The Great Republican Debate" and has been advertised by KDWN and their mouthpiece Heidi Harris as an ALL-CANDIDATE DEBATE for the federal offices of Nevada. The problem is, this is a lie.

KDWN and some of its employees know that Joe Heck is afraid to face me. Heck knows that I am a better candidate and better debater than he is, and he does not want to have to run a legitimate primary race against me. In an effort to make the public think that voters have only one credible choice, KDWN has deliberately lied to its listeners by telling them that ALL of the republican candidates in the race will be in the debate, while helping my opponent by giving him a ‘pass’, only inviting his one weakest opponent. KDWN further lied to me personally, saying that they did not have the time or space to include me: they have three candidates in the CD1 race and FIVE in the senate race, but only TWO in the CD3 race, Heck and punching-bag Ed Bridges. I don't take up that much room, and my answers are short and honest. This is a transparent, disingenuous, and un-American attempt to manipulate the vote by KDWN and Heck. Every time Heck is supposed to appear with me, he turns tail (like at the Veterans in Politics "all candidate" endorsement interview).

Faith will only be restored in our government when childish stunts like this stop. Heidi Harris and the KDWN crew prattle endlessly about Constitution, patriotism and democracy and they act so...inconsistently. Conservatives are getting hammered because of their constant hypocrisy, yet in their lust for "wins" and control of our government, they put their principles aside.

I could respect these people slightly more if they just admitted that they want to win Dina Titus's seat back for the party, and that they do not want their boy to have to spend any money in the primaries. But subverting democracy, suppressing choice and lying to the public are not the way to help the process, restore faith or re-build a ravaged party.

I would rather go down in a fair fight like a man than win by manipulation.

I have been screaming blue-bloody murder for months about something. In the worst economy in a lifetime, Dina Titus is wasting tax payer money to CAMPAIGN. That's right! Jobless benefits are set to expire. Banks are bailed out and their CEO's are getting mega-bonuses. Foreclosures are at a record high and our schools are being gutted.

What did Titus do? She led EVERY freshman member of congress in spending tax dollars on campaign material! I get one a week at my house it seems. Full-color glossy brochures bragging about what a great job she is doing socializing medicine. It turns out that she has spent nearly a HALF-MILLION DOLLARS! (AP STORY LINK BELOW).

I swear to you that I will never do anything of the sort. You may be saying, "That is just another empty promise." I will back it up right here: if I ever use tax dollars for campaigning, I hereby expressly consent to allow you, the people, to sue me for breach of promise to recover all of the money wasted from me personally. That's right. If I break this promise, the people can personally sue me. I will shake the hands of ANY other candidate who will make you that promise.

HOW TO RECLAIM THE PARTY

We are all sick of the mess that our political system has become. We can make things better, and it is an easy fix.

Very few people vote in the primaries. That means, of course, that the few who vote in the primaries dictate our choices in the general election. Who votes in the primaries? Overwhelmingly, political scientists tell us, the primary voters are the extreme members of both parties. The republican party ends up getting a candidate who is far from the best, because the extreme members of the party support the candidates who indulge them.

SO, if you really want to fix the system, learn about all of the candidates and then drag every member of your community to the polls. If 100,000 people show up for a primary, it is far less likely that extremists, panderers and opportunists will be our only choices come general election time.

The Second Amendment and Alissa Blanton

Alissa Blanton, a newlywed from Florida was murdered, in front of her husband, by a man who was stalking her. The killer? A former patron of the restaurant she used to work at. Blanton asked a judge for a restraining order, which was denied. Even if she had been granted the restraining order, she would probably still be dead.

Why? Because a restraining order, on fresh paper, with fresh ink, will not stop a psycho killer. But there is other paper which will. It is old paper, covered with old ink. It is the Constitution's Second Amendment.

Honest, hard-working, sane, non-criminal Americans should have the right to carry a firearm. If Alissa or her husband had held up a court order in the face of the gunman, nothing would have changed. If they had held out a Constitutionally guaranteed firearm, there is a good chance things would have ended differently. Evil people rely upon the probability that most people do not carry guns. If they believe that there is a substantial chance that they will be killed in the course of their mayhem, evil people may rethink their plans. If they do not reconsider, then the innocent should be allowed to defend themselves without the government placing burdens upon them.
